Australian Government ICT Procurement Index

Australia | Financial years 2023-24, 2024-25 and 2025-26 | Initial lifetime contract commitments

Five findings from original contract notices

These figures describe the study cohort, using the earliest original notice value. They do not measure annual ICT spending. Source for every finding: the archived Department of Finance AusTender OCDS releases, processed using the linked methodology.

  1. AusTender original ICT notices published in 2025-26 recorded A$5,729,473,444.82 in initial lifetime contract value across 7,846 notices.

  2. The AusTender 2025-26 ICT notice cohort contains 2,151 distinct supplier identifiers across 7,846 original notices.

Initial ICT contract value by publication year

Exact values and notice counts appear in the table below. Publication-year cohorts contain multi-year contracts. Changes in reporting, classification and large contracts can affect comparisons; the chart is not a spending-growth measure.

What the ICT definition includes

UNSPSC segment 43, computer services family 8111 and IT consultation code 80101507. Each notice is counted once. Where multiple ICT categories occur, the first matching code in numeric order assigns its table category.

Download categories by financial year. The cyber-related keyword subset uses notice descriptions inside the ICT cohort. It can miss relevant contracts and include mixed-service contracts.

Use the evidence for account research

Check an agency's notice history and supplier footprint, then validate current procurement plans directly. A large historical contract can signal an incumbent relationship rather than a near-term opportunity. The data cannot establish a vendor's addressable market, a buying committee or delivery fit.

Build a priority account list and explore account-based marketing.

Questions about this research

Does contract value measure annual ICT spending?

No. The study totals the initial lifetime value of original contract notices. Multi-year commitments can be recorded in one publication year. It does not measure annual expenditure or supplier revenue.

How is ICT defined in this index?

The index includes UNSPSC segment 43, computer services family 8111 and IT consultation code 80101507. The cyber-related subset matches disclosed description keywords within that ICT cohort and is not a complete cybersecurity market estimate.

Are amendments and supplier aliases counted twice?

Amendment releases are excluded from value totals. The earliest original contract release is used once per contract notice ID. Supplier aliases are linked by AU-ABN where available; otherwise the publisher supplier ID is retained. Counts describe identifiers, not verified corporate groups.

Does this study include New Zealand?

No New Zealand figures are included in this edition. The official GETS catalogue licence was verified, but the linked CSV download returned HTML during collection. A New Zealand extension requires a validated dataset and separate notice definitions.

Turn evidence into an account plan

Use the agency and category tables to investigate account fit, incumbent suppliers and contract timing. Historical awards do not establish an open opportunity or a future budget.
